“立足国际学术前沿,面向国家重大需求,培养高水平的人才队伍,搭建有特色的多学科交叉的研究平台,建设一流的研究型学院”

2012-2014年,生命科学技术学院在各级领导和相关部门的大力支持下,强化特色,凝心聚力,锐意进取,秉持“基础理论有创新,关键技术有突破,工程应用有典型”的指导思想,在分子影像、神经影像和生物特征识别等方向深入开展科研工作,在中医针刺、网络成瘾理论探索,指纹加密、影像分析方法研究和先进医学成像设备研发等方面取得了丰硕成果。

三年来,学院共承担国家“973计划”项目子课题、国家自然科学基金重大与重点项目子课题、面上与青年项目、国家科技支撑项目等国家级科研项目45项,经费总额2000余万元;获得授权国家发明专利30余项;在国际学术期刊发表SCI检索论文129篇,其中影响因子大于10分2篇,影响因子大于5分12篇,2014年王福副教授在国际顶尖期刊美国国家科学院院刊(PNAS)发表了采用新型环化HSV1-TK 分子探针实时动态监测细胞凋亡的研究论文;2012年学院有关指纹识别和加密的研究成果获国家技术发明二等奖,2013年学院获批“分子与神经影像”教育部工程研究中心。

在人才建设方面,学院从清华大学、北京大学、上海交通大学等高校引进了11位电子、生物、化学和药学等学科的博士。2014年,学院从美国国立卫生研究院(NIH)引进的王忠良教授入选中组部“青年千人计划”,学院聘任的斯坦福大学程震副教授入选陕西省“百人计划”。截至目前,学院共有专职教师36人,全部具有博士学位,其中教授8人,副教授19人,35岁以下青年教师占65%,逐步形成了一支高水平、多学科、年轻态的师资队伍。

在学生培养方面,2012-2014年,学院共培养硕士毕业生95名,首批66名本科生也于2014年顺利毕业。学院现有生物医学工程和生物技术两个本科专业,其中生物医学工程为陕西省重点学科和陕西省特色专业;拥有生物医学工程、生物信息科学与技术、生物材料与细胞工程3个硕士学位授予点和生物信息科学与技术博士学位授予点,学生培养规模逐步扩大。

2014年,本着“打造卓越执行力团队,共创合作与互赢平台”的团队建设理念,为了进一步凝练特色、整合资源,学院进行了大刀阔斧的综合改革,成立了8个特色鲜明的研究室,实现了由“雨伞型”团队向“珍珠-雨伞型”团队的转变,进一步建立和完善了科学、人性化的管理体系,进入了学院发展的快车道,向着一流研究型学院的目标全速前进。


‘Holding leading academic perspective, promoting clinic translation and application, building a molecular imaging platform, pushing rapid development of our disciplinary areas
From 2012 to 2014, the School of Life Science and Technology (SLST) has gained tremendous progress perusing the innovation in basic theory, and having breakthroughs in key technology and typical engineering applications. SLST has focused on the research in the field of molecular imaging, neuroimaging and biometric recognition, specifically in acupuncture of Traditional Chinese Medicine, internet addiction, fingerprints encryption, imaging analysis method and R&D in advanced medical imaging devices, in which 2012-2014 has turned out to be fruitful. In the past three years, SLST has received 45 grants, with funding over 20,000,000 RMB in total, including Key Scientific Issues in the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), National Key Basic Research Foundation of China (NKBRSFC), The General Program (Key Program, Major Research Plan of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Research Fund for Young Scientists of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Key Technology Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. A series of publications and patents were obtained regarding the aforementioned research projects, i.e.48 international journal papers (SCI) and more than 30 Chinese patents. A major breakthrough was accomplished in 2014 regarding a cyclic HSV1-TK reporter for real-time PET imaging of apoptosis (PNAS.2014,111(14):5165-70). In 2012, SLST gained 2nd Prize from the National Award for Technological Invention. In 2013, SLST was granted the title of ‘Engineering Research Center of Molecular and Neuro Imaging of Ministry of Education’.
SLST has also built up a strong team with a multi-disciplinary academic background.  until now, there are 36 full-time teachers, all with doctoral degrees, including 8 professors and 19 associate professors. In particular, Prof. Zhong-Liang Wang from the National Institute of Health, USA, is enlisted in the ‘Thousand Talent Program for Young Outstanding Scientists ’. Associate Professor Zhen Cheng from Stanford University is enlisted in the ‘Hundred Talent Program for Outstanding Scientists’ in Shaanxi. 
From 2012-2014, there have been 95 Master’s degree and 66 Bachelor’s Degree graduates. SLST provides a diverse bachelor’s degree and master’s degree programs for engineering students, medical students, residents etc. with no special requests for the academic background of applicants.
Guided by our team principles, which is to build an excellent executive team and to create a win-win cooperation platform, great reform was made in SLST in 2014. Eight featured research teams were established as well as other reforms in executive function and administration. These changes have enabled us to run full speed toward the vision of a first-class research institute.
